About me
I am a printmaker working primarily in monotype, collagraph and linocut. I have a BA degree in Fine Art Printmaking from Manchester Metropolitan University and have been teaching Art for 15 years in a secondary school setting. I have recently taken the leap to being a full time artist.
I am based in South West England and my work focuses on the rugged and undulating landscape I live in. My ideas begin primarily in my sketchbook, through drawing, mark making and photography.
My printmaking describes the colours, textures and shapes I see in the landscape and often veer towards an abstraction of the place I saw initially.
My process
I love to walk and I get a lot of my inspiration from the natural environment around me. I can often be found with my sketchbook out and about drawing inspiration from the landscape.
Back in the studio, I work these sketches and photos up into more resolved line drawings in preparation for print. Depending on the image this could be a linocut, monotype or collagraph. I love to explore line and colour and the endless nature of printmaking suits me perfectly. There is so much scope to develop and evolve as a printmaker which really excites me.
